Notes

This drink contains approximately 18.00% alcohol. (Equals 5.00cl 80-proof alcohol.)

This drink is a creation of the legendary 'Professor' Jerry Thomas when he worked at the El Dorado bar in San Francisco. Thomas was a star on the cocktail sky and perfected this drink by throwing the burning liquid between two silver goblets before audience. This inflammable circus impressed president Grant so much that he handed over a cigar to Thomas.

Thomas was a man of principles and refused to serve his Blue Blazer until the thermometer had fallen below -10 C. If you had a cold or the flu, he could make an exception, because this drinks is said to ease the symptoms. If you are hosting a cocktail parry in the middle of the winter or have a needing customer at the bar and want to show off your skills, this is the drink you should practice on.
